We're Just a Little Bit Different...

...actually, we're a lot different. Most companies in our industry never work directly with the customers riding their bikes. To design their fit, the use the input of pro racers and their coaches. We design our bike sizes based on real people that are everyday riders. Folks of all ages, abilities, and from all walks of life who visit our store or work with us one-on-one via phone and email. When something doesn't work, we find out right away... we fix it and learn. When you buy a Rodriguez, you're buying years worth of that very input.

Our fitting history is just one of things that make a Rodriguez the best value in the industry.

Rodriguez Bicycle S Sizes

S stands for - Shorter and Sloping
These are our most popular sizes. S Sizes were developed to be more upright with both a shorter reach and higher placement of the handlebars. The top tube is "Shorter" and "Slopes" upward a bit more. These are sizes not seen in the rest of the bike industry. But since we use real people, and not just racers, to determine comfortable bike fit, we've found that actual body proportions, age, flexibility, and/or injury issues make our S sizes very popular. Also, a lot of people, including me, have long legs for their height and shorter torsos.

The adjacent illustration shows a medium sized (6S) design. Notice how the handle bars end up about the same height as the saddle, or even a little higher. The trained eye can also see that the bars are quite a bit closer to the rider compared to the L size illustration below.

Rodriguez Bicycle L Sizes

L stands for - Longer and Lower
L Sizes are our modern interpretation of classic geometries. They provide similar fits to the old level top tube race bikes of the 80s. The top tube is 'Longer' and the bar postion is 'Lower'. But, we still use a slightly sloping top tube on our L sizes to adapt them to modern parts. Modern threadless stems and headsets have less height built into them than the actual parts from the 1970's and 1980's. Compared to modern bikes, they would be classified as “endurance” geometry in most other manufacturer’s sizing. The L size also works very well for people with shorter legs for their height and longer torsos.

The adjacent illustration shows a medium sized (6L) design. Notice how the top tube looks more level and the bars are lower than the seat height. The trained eye can also detect that the bars are quite a bit further from the rider than the S size pictured above.
