Meet Dennis and Jenny Bushnell (and their grand doggy Toby). Dennis and Jenny have been building bicycle and tandem frames in the Seattle area for nearly four decades now. Dennis is also a talented machinist. Aside from building tandems, Dennis and Jenny are avid tandem riders. Toby keeps the Seattle rats under control.

Some noteworthy accomplishments include:
  • Dennis had the privilege of building some of the bicycles for the 1984 U.S. Olympic team.
  • In 1986, Dennis built the world's first carbon fiber tandems in conjunction with the Easton aluminum company. Lon Haldeman and Pete Penseyres then used those tandems to set a record for riding across the United States
  • The Bushnells built the first Aermet ultra-light steel tandems (frame weights at sub 7lbs.).
  • Dennis built the first Scandium aluminum tandems (frame weights at sub 7lbs.).
  • Dennis is the creator of the Bushnell Eccentric. The 140 gram Bushnell eccentric has quickly become a favorite for high-end tandem builders as well as single speed builders. The Bushnell eccentric is now distributed world wide.

Meet Todd Bertram. Todd's been with R+E Cycles since 1998. He started as a mechanic, and quickly proved himself to be extremely talented. Todd has always been willing to do hard work. From building the coffee shop to hauling loads of garbage to the dump, Todd has helped me out with countless winter time improvement projects.

In 2004, Master Frame Builder, Dennis Bushnell joined the team at R+E Cycles and we needed someone to work with him, and learn from his 30+ years experience. Todd came to mind.

Todd was born in Rockford Illinois, and moved to Washington when he was just 2 1/2 years old. I suppose that makes him an almost Washington native.

With over 500 complete bicycle frames under his belt (including my convertible quad/triple/tandem with softride beam) Todd is a full fledged expert frame builder.
