Velospec High Strength Steel Tubing

For 2020, Rodriguez Bicycles is thrilled to be working with a company that we've worked with for decades to develop new light steel tubing for our bicycles. The new product is called Velospec.

Velospec high performance, high strength, seamless USA steel that is designed for top-end performance and lightweight frame designs. This seamless tubing undergos DOM methods for better tube tolerances and structure. Composed of "air-hardening" characteristics from its chemistry, this special alloy has the ability to quickly harden/strengthen TIG-welded zones during its cool down. For additional strengths especially for thin wall profiles, the tubes undergo a heat treatment that raises tensile strength up to 1200 MPa which counters material fatigue and external impacts. Raw material is tested to AMS 2301 aircraft quality standards.

At Rodriguez, we've been building with this type of ultra-light steel tubes for years now, and I think you'll find the ride characteristics to be amazing. The price of a hand-crafted Rodriguez Velospec frame is less than most custom builders sell their generic labeled, heavier 'cro-moly' frames for.
